Peel, Tait start against Leeds

Wed, 20 Aug 2008 13:20

Dwayne Peel and Mathew Tait will both start for Sale Sharks in their pre-season outing against Leeds Carnegie at Edgeley Park on Friday.

Also included in the starting line-up are Luke Abraham and David Doherty.

Sharks Director of Rugby Philippe Saint Andre said he was "delighted" to be asble to name a strong line-up.

"I delighted that Dwayne Peel and Mathew Tait will get some quality game time," the Sale boss said.

"Jason White is still recovering from surgery, as is Chris Bell and Sebastien Chabal picked up a knock in training."

Commenting on the curtain raiser against Sedgley Tigers, Philippe said: "We have several players in our team for this game with a wealth of first team experience ... Neil Briggs, Stuart Turner, Oriol Ripol, Brent Cockbain, Scott Lawson and Will Cliff.

"I will also be giving Andy Tuilagi a run out at centre. I have not made my mind up on the starting line-up for the first Guinness Premiership game at Newcastle and Friday's double header will give all the players a chance to impress. It will also be nice to play a game in front of our own fans again too."

Sale Sharks: 15 Rory Lamont, 14 Mark Cueto, 13 Mathew Tait, 12 Luke McAlister, 11 David Doherty, 10 Charlie Hodgson, 9 Dwayne Peel, 8 Carl Fearns, 7 Luke Abraham, 6 Chris Jones, 5 Dean Schofield (captain), 4 Sean Cox, 3 Eifion Roberts, 2 Sebastien Bruno, 1 Andrew Sheridan.
Replacements - from: Lionel Faure, Marc Jones, Michael Hills, Richard Wigglesworth, Nick McLeod, Nick Royle, plus four players who are playing in the curtain raiser against Sedgley Tigers.
