Scarlet King to miss Ulster opener

Sat, 30 Aug 2008 14:17

Llanelli Scarlets star creative centre Regan King will be out for two-to-four weeks with a hamstring injury, thus missing his side's opening Magners League encounters.

The Kiwi was injured during the Scarlets pre-season friendly against London Wasps on Friday (which the Scarlets won 20-17), as was fellow centre Jon Davies (leg).

The two Scarlets will thus miss next Friday's season opener against Ulster in Belfast.

"These things happen, it gives a chance to the other guys," coach Nigel Davies told the BBC's official site.

Davies is likely to turn to Gavin Evans and Rob Higgitt as replacements in Ravenhill.

The injury news at the Scarlets has taken the edge off their impressive win at Adams Park.

Flank Johnathan Edwards also left the field with an injury in the Wasps clash, though it is not thought to be serious.
