Jean-Philippe Genevois, the Bourgoin hooker, has been suspended for 70 days by the disciplinary commission of the Ligue Nationale de Rugby, the body which regulates professional rugby in France.
Genevois was found guilty of butting Stade Français hooker Dimitri Szarzewski with his head when the two teams met on May 3 in France's Top 14.
Szarzewski suffered damage to an eye socket and his nose. The injury caused much anger in the Stade Français camp.
The suspension runs from the date of the inquiry, May 14, and is in abeyance during the offseason. The date when Genevois will be allowed to play again will be determined once the calendar for the 2008-09 season has been determined.
Albert Sadacca, a doctor attached to Toulouse, was suspended for 20 days with 10 days of the 20 suspended, for not carrying out his functions in a proper manner. During Toulouse's match with Montpellier the referee sent Sadacca from the field.
