Wembley set to host Saracens v Saints

Thu, 09 Jul 2009 14:48

Ambitions Saracens chairman Nigel Wray is looking to take the London club into the record books this season after announcing that Sarries will host Northampton Saints at Wembley Stadium on September 12th.

With a capacity of 90 000, a full Wembley would knock the current record, just over 80 000 set at Croke Park for last years Heineken Cup semifinal between Leinster and Munster, out of the water.

Key to Saracens hopes of selling out the massive Wembley Stadium is the attraction of more than just a single rugby game as well as reduced ticket prices.

"It must be several decades since a family of four was able to book a big day out at Wembley for just £30,” said Wray on the clubs official website.

"I've been fortunate enough to go to the new Wembley on a number of occasions and it really is a fantastic experience. Getting tickets for Wembley events can be difficult enough but now we're giving fans the chance to watch a great game of rugby, enjoy some great entertainment and experience the stadium at a fantastic price."

A club spokesman added: "The rugby is the main event but we are also planning top class entertainment. Details will be announced shortly, but we may well prove Britain’s got talent."

With thanks to Saracens Rugby.
