Templeton Cup on offer in Brisbane

A decade after they first contested rugby’s Templeton Cup, Queensland and New South Wales go into battle at Suncorp Stadium in the Super 14 this Saturday.
The trophy was created in 2000 in memory of former Wallaby and Queensland coach Bob Templeton MBE, who died at the end of 1999.
The Reds held it from 2000-2004, but the Waratahs have held it ever since former Waratahs coach Ewen McKenzie masterminded its capture in 2005.
Now Head Coach of the Reds, McKenzie is keen to return the favour for his new young charges.
"The Templeton Cup is a pretty important trophy," McKenzie said in a press statement.
"It’s the symbol of interstate supremacy between Queensland and NSW, which makes it pretty significant.
"It’s also special for me because I was coached by Tempo (at the 1991 Rugby World Cup) and had a lot of respect for him.
"I managed to win it a few times with the Waratahs against the Reds so I'd certainly like to get it back," he added.
