Flutey flying back to Wasps?

Back in black? Centre Riki Flutey may return to Wasps

According to the French website Rugbyrama, Riki Flutey, the itinerant Brive centre, will leave Brive for London Wasps next season.

Fluter, who is 30, was born in Wairarapa, New Zealand, and played for New Zealand at age-group levels. At senior level he played for Hawke's Bay and then Wellington and the Hurricanes. He also played for the New Zealand Maori. In 2005 he went to England and played for London Irish before switching to London Wasps, before switching to Brive.

Brive have had a disappointing season, and Flutey's injured shoulder has not helped. He has played few matches and when Brive wanted him released when England had a bye last weekend, their request was turned down.

Brive would probably be happy for him to go - not much game time, expensive and adding to the foreign list when the Ligue Nationale de Rugby is to bring in wage restrictions and also restrictions on foreign players for next season.

At first it was rumoured that Flutey would go to Munster - who wanted him to replace Jean de Villiers when the Springbok centre returns to South Africa at the end of the season. But now it seems that the tough centre, capped nine times by England end three times by British and Irish Lions, will go back to London and the Wasps.
