Sun, 14 Mar 2010 19:48
France are just one step away from their first Six Nations Grand Slam in six years, after they demolished the Italians 46-20 at Stade de France, Paris, on Sunday.
In a performance of sublime skills and raw power, the French scored six tries to two.
Jan de Koning rates the French players!
15 Clement Poitrenaud:
Showed his full skill range from early on and remained full of running to the end.
8/10
14 Marc Andreu:
Looked full of energy - often took on the bigger guys and always found room to run into.
7/10
13 David Marty:
He scored two great tries, but it was his general play and support running that really impressed.
7/10
12 Yannick Jauzion:
He looks bigger and stronger than ever, but has lost none of his pace and skill.
7/10
11 Alexis Palisson:
Had a quiet day by French standards.
6/10
10 Francois Trinh-Duc:
Was not perfect, but always looked in control and showed real class.
7/10
9 Morgan Parra:
World class! Great snipe for the opening try and a key cog in both open play and on defence.
8/10
8 Imanol Harinordoquy:
Hopefully he has now silenced all his critics - great running off Parra for opening try and also several great line-out steals.
8/10
7 Julien Bonnaire:
He was almost overshadowed by his fellow loose forwards, but no less effective.
7/10
6 Thierry Dusautoir (captain):
Very involved from the opening moments and ran around like a midfielder.
7/10
5
Julien Pierre:
Truly a late bloomer. It is amazing to think that he has played only a handful of Tests for France.
6/10
4 Lionel Nallet:
The veteran showed his class once again.
6/10
3 Nicolas Mas:
Solid in the scrums, but had a quiet game by the rest of his team's standards and was replaced at half-time.
6/10
2 William Servat:
Seemed to find the pace of that first half too much and was subbed at the break. Not a bad game though.
6/10
1 Thomas Domingo:
Had some good ball carries.
6/10
Replacements:
16 Dimitri Szarzewski (on for Servat at half-time):
His pace came in handy in the second half and he looked energetic.
6/10
17 Jean-Baptiste Poux
(on for Mas at half-time):
In a game where the backs dominated, he just needed to do the basics well ... and he did.
6/10
18 Sebastien Chabal (on for Nallet in the 49th min):
He had a few carries, but a shocking forward pass when a try was on. Maybe just over-eager.
5/10
19 Alexandre Lapandry (on for Dusautoir 58th min):
He had big boots to fill, but did not let the team down.
6/10
20 Dimitri Yachvili (on for Trinh-Duc 58th min):
First game back and looked a bit rusty.
5/10
21 Mathieu Bastareaud (on for Jauzion 72nd min):
Not enough time to be rated.
22 Julien Malzieu (on for Poitrenaud 64th min):
Not enough time to be rated.
