Bath Rugby has announced that rising stars Scott Hobson and Mark Lilley have renewed their contracts for another two years.
Both youngsters have made a strong impression this season, playing at a consistently high level in each of their four appearances. Hobson also scored a try against Saracens in the LV = Cup in November.
Having been handed the No.4 jersey in the absence of Danny Grewcock, the 22 year-old Hobson has grasped the opportunity with both hands.
"It has been a challenge to step up to play with the first team, but being able to play alongside the senior guys has been fantastic," admitted Scott.
"I have learnt so much from players such as Stuart Hooper and Danny Grewcock and I plan to continue to work hard over the next two seasons so that I can have more chances to wear that first team jersey."
Head Coach Steve Meehan believes that Scott's talent and determination will stand him in good stead when
challenging for a spot in the senior squad: "He has impressed everybody here with his willingness to work hard and learn," said Meehan.
"His development, especially over the past six months, has been exceptional. Every time he has taken the field for the first team he has demonstrated why we wanted to renew his contract."
Joining Scott in the renewal stakes is fellow forward Mark Lilley. Mark joined the Academy in 2004 and has since worked his way up to play for the first team in the Guinness Premiership and LV = Cup as well as representing England U20's along the way.
"I love playing for Bath Rugby," said Mark. "My Dad used to play here so it is a special place to me and my family and the team are also playing a really exciting style of rugby so I am just really pleased to be part of that.
"When you get offered the chance to play in the first team, you just want to grab it and really go for it."
Able to play at hooker and at prop,
Mark bolsters the pack in both positions and Meehan believes his excellent progress will continue over the next two seasons.
"Mark has a broad range of talents which make him very valuable to the team and as an individual.
"Having had his father here, it is great that he wants to continue with the Club, but he also has a very in-depth understanding of what Bath Rugby is about and what we stand for."
