Wasps make a change at scrumhalf

Thu, 18 Mar 2010 14:47

Wasps have made just one change to the starting line-up that secured a 24-19 victory over Gloucester as they return to Guinness Premiership action on Friday for the rearranged Round 9 clash with Sale.

The change to the Wasps starting XV is at scrumhalf, where Warren Fury replaces James Honeyben who has an ankle injury that he sustained in the Gloucester Fixture.

On the bench the addition of Will Matthews, following recovery from a tight calf which ruled him out of action on home soil two weeks ago, is the only other change to the side that will travel to Edgeley Park.

That match is vital for Wasps' continued play-off ambitions and marks flank John Hart’s 100th Premiership game.

"We are really looking forward to getting back into the Premiership after a week’s break from competitive action," director of rugby Tony Hanks said.

"The guys have been rejuvenated by the break but are hungry to just get out there and play. This game is huge for both sides and we will be looking to uphold our recent home form with a strong performance on the road.

"Finding that consistency will be key for us, especially at this stage of the season and with the competition so tight."

On John Hart he added, "John is a player whose continual dedication to the club cause is often unsung.

"His 100th Guinness Premiership performance shows his place in the squad and his leadership skills, combined with his work rate and motivation make him a key figure in this Wasps group. We are delighted to see him reach this milestone in his career."

London Wasps: 15 Mark Van Gisbergen, 14 Paul Sackey, 13 Ben Jacobs, 12 Steve Kefu, 11 David Lemi, 10 Dave Walder, 9 Warren Fury, 8 Dan Ward Smith, 7 Serge Betsen, 6 John Hart, 5 Dan Leo, 4 Marty Veale, 3 Ben Broster, 2 Rob Webber (captain), 1 Zak Taulafo.
