Samoan wing returns for Exiles

Fri, 03 Sep 2010 18:17

London Irish head coach Toby Booth has recalled prolific Samoan wing Sailosi Tagicakibau for the London double header season opener against Saracens at Twickenham on Saturday.

Tagicakibau, who scored four tries for the Exiles during last month's Middlesex Sevens tournament at Rugby HQ, will be looking for a repeat of the exhilarating form that saw him score seven tries in his first seven matches of last season.

The 27-year-old is one of four changes from the side that played Edinburgh at Murrayfield last Friday, with new recruit Daniel Bowden making his first competitive start for the club since his off-season move from Super 14 side the Crusaders.

The other changes see hooker David Paice and prop Faan Rautenbach return to an all international front row that also includes new club captain Clarke Dermody.

Speaking about the match, Booth said: "Everyone is really looking forward to getting the season underway at the double header on Saturday.

"I am really pleased with our pre-season preparations. We have trained hard and played well, but the real work starts now with our first real competitive test against Saracens."
