England left to sweat on Flood

England flyhalf Toby Flood is expected to be out for two months after damaging his knee ligaments during the opening weekend of the Aviva Premiership.

Flood will now face a race against the clock to be ready in time for the end-of-year internationals, but may have to wait until next year's Six Nations for his next taste of international action.

The 25-year-old was helped from the field during Leicester Tigers' 27-19 defeat to Northampton Saints and early fears were that he had torn the ligaments, but according to The Guardian scans this week have revealed a strain.

Flood's injury could open the door for Jonny Wilkinson to reclaim the England No.10 jersey, after the World Cup winner was demoted to a role on the bench during the mid-year tour to Australia and New Zealand.

The loss of Flood is latest blow for the Tigers, who are already without Geoff Parling, Jordan Crane, Louis Deacon and Richard Blaze.
