Roberts gets the Scarlets fever

Fri, 28 Mar 2008 16:37

The Scarlets recruitment drive continues with the announcement that promising scrumhalf Martin Roberts has crossed the Loughor Bridge to make a switch from the Ospreys.

The Scarlets' latest capture is tipped as a future Welsh international by Scarlets Director of Rugby, Phil Davies.

The former Wales Under-21 No.9, who has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, has been tipped for the top and is sure to flourish under the tutelage of former British and Lion, and Wales, star Robert Jones, who is the backs and skills coach at the region.

"Martin possesses a great passing game and he will add depth in this position. We believe he is a future Welsh star," revealed Davies.

Roberts has made 20 appearances for the Ospreys since making his debut against Bath in October 2005.

His signing follows that of former All Black lock Simon Maling and Tongan scrumhalf Sililo Martens.
