The Welsh regional outfit Cardiff Blues will be without Robin Sowden Taylor for the rest of the season.
The club said in a statement that the results of an MRI scan confirmed that Taylor has damaged his AC joint in the shoulder, which will need reconstructive surgery early next week.
"The injury is expected to keep him out of action for three months, but Robin [Sowden Taylor] should be back in full contact training in July or August," the club said.
Speaking about the injury Cardiff Blues Physiotherapist Tim Atter said: "Robin has damaged the ligaments in his acromio - clavicular joint, which is a small joint which connects to his main shoulder joint.
"Having seen the shoulder specialist Richard Evans, the opinion is that Robin should undergo surgery to repair the ligaments around the joint to ensure the best functional outcome, which will allow Robin to return to pre-season training."
