Strydom a welcome sight for Lions
Wed, 11 Jun 2008 11:32
The Lions will welcome back flyhalf Louis Strydom for their final Currie Cup preparations, after the player recovered from injury.
Strydom has been included in the Lions Currie Cup squad after a lengthy lay-off, but there is still no sign of key player and Springbok pivot André Pretorius, who remains on the injury list.
The Lions have named their squad, but delayed their team to play a compulsory friendly against an Eastern Cape Combined XV on Friday.
The match will take place at the Eastern Province Rugby Football Union (EPRFU) Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
The squad of 22 players traveling to Port Elizabeth has been announced, but the final team will only be decided on Thursday after the captain's run.
The Lions' Currie Cup campaign will kick off a week later when they take on the Blue Bulls at Ellis Park Stadium on Saturday, June 21.
The 2008 Lions squad will be announced next Wednesday along with the match 22 to play against the Blue Bulls in the first Currie Cup fixture.
