Jooste, McIntosh still in the hot seat

Wed, 14 May 2008 15:24

Current Springbok selectors Peter Jooste and Ian McIntosh will continue assist coach Peter de Villiers in selecting his training squad for the upcoming series against Wales.

SA Rugby were scheduled to meet on Tuesday to choose the new three-man selection panel - expanded to include an ethnic black - but the meeting failed to take place. It is not clear when the new panel will be chosen.

The selection candidates are Wynand Claassen, Errol Tobias, McIntosh, Kaya Malotana, David Maidza, Lucky Menge, Freddie Makoki, Francois Davids, Jooste en Roland Bantom.

'We [McIntosh and Jooste] are still choosing the team," Jooste told OFM Sport.

"Jonathan Stones [Managing Director SA Rugby] told us that we must go ahead and select the team.

"We are meeting with Peter [De Villiers] on Thursday morning to choose the training squad," added Jooste.
