Although he was not entirely flawless, his array of skills appear limitless – arguably the premier fullback in the world.

Great pace and carrying the ball, but some poor passing and also conceded a crucial penalty.

6/10

Solid on defence, but limited on attack.

11 Jonny May:

Showed his finishing class and made all his tackles.

6/10

10 Owen Farrell:

Took command of the game and moved back to the top of England's flyhalf rankings. He'll play a crucial role in the rest of the tournament, as George Ford is well be low his standards.

8/10

9 Ben Youngs:

Was a constant menace with ball in hand and his sniping runs often got his team on the front foot. May have been a huge mistake to replace him so early in the second half.

7/10.

8 Billy Vunipola:

Plenty of carries, always making metres, and also making a heap of tackles.

Pushed the envelope and got penalised at the breakdown on a couple of occasions.

5/10

Collapsed an early maul and cost his team points. Did not improve much from there and was replaced at half-time. Appeared to have carried an injury.

Some amazing cover defence, but needs to contribute more in other areas.

6/10

3 Dan Cole:

Very powerful in the early scrum and some decent work on defence.

6/10

Conceded a silly early penalty and a few turnovers later in the match. Decent work on defence.

He may be strong in the scrums, but his poor workrate cost his team.
