Team of the week: Star performers

Both the Cheetahs and the Sharks have four players each in our selection after wins over Western Province and Boland respectively.

Griquas, who edged the defending champions in Kimberley, have three players in our team, while The Blue Bulls and Golden Team of the week: Star performersLions have two players each in our team.

Adriaan Coertzen, Odwa Ndungane and Sibusiso Sithole make up our back three, while Nico Lee and Clinton Swart are our two choices for the midfield.

At flyhalf and scrumhalf we have Fred Zeilinga and Rudi van Rooyen.

In the pack, we have Philip van der Walt, Jannes Kirsten and Paul Schoeman in the back row. In the second row, we have Reniel Hugo and Rudolph Snyman.

Thomas du Toit, Armand van der Merwe and Dylan Smith make up the front row.

15 – Adriaan Coertzen (Griquas)

Scored a try and had a hand in another against the Golden Lions. It was a strong showing by the fullback.

14 – Odwa Ndungane (Sharks)

He looked dangerous with ball in hand against Boland and he also had speed to burn on the outside.

13 – Nico Lee (Free State Cheetahs)

He had an impressive debut for the Free State Cheetahs against Western Province. The 22-year-old scored a brilliant try and created another for his team.

12 – Clinton Swart (Griquas)

It was a great all-round performance by the 23-year-old. He was a constant threat on attack and he did some outstanding work on defence as well.

Team of the week: Star performers11 – Sibusiso Sithole (Sharks)

He did what was asked of him out wide and on attack and on defence against the Cavaliers.

10 – Fred Zeilinga (Free State Cheetahs)

He controlled the game brilliantly against Western Province and he was definitely the catalyst for an impressive win in Cape Town.

9 – Rudi van Rooyen (Griquas)

It was an impressive showing by the young scrumhalf. He gave his backline great service against the Golden Lions and he scored a try as well.

8 – Philip van der Walt (Sharks)

The big No.8 put in another great all-round performance against Boland. He was physical on defence and he carried the ball with great intent as well.

7 – Jannes Kirsten (Blue Bulls)

He was one of the better players in a Blue Bulls team that struggled against the Eastern Province Kings.

6 – Paul Schoeman (Free State Cheetahs)

He tackled his heart out against Western Province and carried the ball strongly throughout the 80 minutes.

5 – Reniel Hugo (Free State Cheetahs)

The lock was another player who gave everything on defence and he also helped his team tremendously in the physical exchanges at Newlands.

4 – Rudolph Snyman (Blue Bulls)

He did well in open play against the Eastern Province Kings and he also gave his team secure ball at line-out time.

He had a good showing in the scrums against Boland and he did a lot of good things in open play as well.

2 – Armand van der Merwe (Golden Lions)

His pace and strength gave Griquas a few problems. The hooker also scored a try and had a hand in another.

He was solid in the scrums, which helped the Golden Lions lay a good platform for attack against Griquas.
