Team of the week: Stampeding Bulls

The Blue Bulls have six players in our XV after their 31-17 win at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

Despite losing to Western Province at Newlands at the weekend, the Sharks have four players in our selection, while Province Team of the week: Stampeding Bullsonly have two in the team.

The Free State Cheetahs have two players as well, while the Golden Lions have one.

Curwin Bosch, Travis Ismaiel and Jamba Ulengo make up our back three, while Nico Lee and Andre Esterhuizen are in the midfield.

Robert du Preez is at flyhalf with Piet van Zyl is partnering him at scrumhalf.

In the pack, Philip van der Walt, Kobus van Dyk and Ruan Steenkamp are in the back row. In the second row, we have gone with Marvin Orie and Rudolph Snyman.

Thomas du Toit, Robbie Coetzee and Retshegofaditswe Nche make our front row.

Team of the Week – Round Five:

15 – Curwin Bosch (Sharks)

He was solid at the back for the Sharks and his boot kept the Durbanites in the game against Western Province.

14 – Travis Ismaiel (Blue Bulls)

The wing had a great all-round performance against the Golden Lions. He scored a try, had a hand in another and won a few turnover ball for his team as well.

13 – Nico Lee (Free State Cheetahs)

He was quite exceptional with ball in hand against the Eastern Province Kings. He scored two tries and assisted in two others. The big centre also racked up over 150 running metres.

Team of the week: Stampeding Bulls12 – Andre Esterhuizen (Sharks)

He kept the Western Province defenders busy all game with his strong carries and his ability to offload in the tackle.

11 – Jamba Ulengo (Blue Bulls)

The flyer did what was asked of him out wide with ball in hand and he also impressed on occasions in defence.

10 – Robert du Preez (Western Province)

The No.10 did a lot of good work tactically against the Sharks. He also set-up a few tries and made a number of tackles.

9 – Piet van Zyl (Blue Bulls)

His distribution kept the Blue Bulls on the front foot against the Golden Lions all game. He also made a few impressive carries as well.

8 – Philip van der Walt (Sharks)

Once again he was outstanding in open play against Western Province. He had a high work rate on attack and on defence and he was a key component in a strong Sharks pack.

Team of the week: Stampeding Bulls7 – Kobus van Dyk (Western Province)

The youngster was one of the star performers for Western Province at the weekend. He was strong and aggressive with ball in hand. He also put in a few bone-crunching tackles.

6 – Ruan Steenkamp (Blue Bulls)

He was part of an effective back row for the Blue Bulls against the Golden Lions. He put his body on the line on defence and gave some of the Lions' players a few headaches when he ran into them with ball in hand.

5 – Marvin Orie (Blue Bulls)

The young lock gave his all on defence against the Golden Lions and also made his opponents work hard for their ball at line-out time.

4 – Rudolph Snyman (Blue Bulls)

Like his lock partner, he did a lot of hard work on defence and in the physical exchanges in the win over the Golden Lions.

He was solid in the scrums against Western Province, but he also did his share of work around the park as well, on attack and on defence.

He was one of the few Lions players who stood up to the Blue Bulls' physicality.

The prop's stock rose significantly after his performance against the Kings. He scrummaged well, scored a try and assisted in another. He also won a few turnovers as well.
