Large nicolas sanchez argentina v new zealand 800

OPINION: Argentina put up a good fight, but in the end they ran out of gas - going down 22-57 to New Zealand in Hamilton on Saturday.

You have to commend them for their attitude, a willingness to play and expansive game, and take the All Blacks.

The played with great intensity, a combination of brute strength and inventive play. However, they just could not sustain it beyond the hour mark.

Jan de Koning rates the Argentinean players!

15 Joaquin Tuculet:
Had one really impressive run and a few other less effective efforts. However, he missed too many tackles.

14 Matthias Moroni:
Didn't have as many opportunities as he would have wanted, but made the most of what came his way. Showed plenty of power.

13 Matias Orlando:
One really impressive run and a few other darting runs. However, his defence was a major problem.

12 Juan Martin Hernández:
His footwork caused the All Blacks some trouble and he was solid on defence.

11 Santiago Cordero:
Being used a lot as a ball carrier and was very effective. Also missed only one tackle in a game where the numbers climbed significantly in the second half.

10 Nicolas Sanchez:
He is the one player that can challenge Beauden Barrett for the title  as the world's best flyhalf.

9 Martin Landajo:
Sublime break for the first try and great service. Did his basics well.

8 Facundo Isa:
His powerful charges caused plenty of bruises in the All Black camp. Also showed some great skill.

7 Javier Ortega Desio:
Another workhorse in this impressive Argentinean pack - strong carries and solid defence.

6 Pablo Matera:
Made plenty of hard metres, sometimes just one or two at a time, but kept the momentum going forward.

5 Matias Alemanno:
The hard work in the close exchanges - especially on defence - was his most valuable asset.

4 Guido Petti:
Drifted in and out of the game and had the occasional moment of impact.

3 Ramiro Herrera:
Had a shocker and did not complete a single tackle.

2 Agustin Creevy (captain):
A real workhorse - the diesel in that powerful Argentinean pack. Made plenty of metres with the ball in hand and missed only one tackle.

1 Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro:
Impressive work in the scrums, very powerful carries (making good metres) and made most of his tackles.

16 Julian Montoya (on for Creevy, 63rd min):
His best work was on defence, while his ball carries were rather ineffective.

17 Lucas Noguera (on for Chaparro, 63rd min):
Made no contribution whatsoever.

18 Enrique Pieretto (on for Herrera, 67th min):
Not enough time to be rated.

19 Mark Kremer (on for Matera, 65th min):
Made no impact and missed all his tackles.

20 Leonardo Senatore (on for Petti, 41st min):
Made his tackles, had a few good carriers and some hard work at the breakdown.

21 Tomas Cubelli (on for Landajo, 61st min):
Did the basics, but nothing more.

22 Santiago Gonzalez Iglesias (on for Hernández, 37th min):
Struggled to get over the advantage line and missed too many tackles.

23 Ramiro Moyano (on for Sanchez, 65th min):
Some great cover defence that stopped a certain try, but brought nothing else to the game.
