Team of the Week: Cheetahs lead the way

After their fantastic win against the Golden Lions, the Cheetahs have six players in our XV. The Blue Bulls are the next best represented with three players.

The Sharks and Golden Lions are represented with two players each in our selection, while Western Province and the Pumas have a player each in the team.

Curwin Bosch, Rayno Benjamin and Raymond Rhule are our picks in the back three, with Nico Lee and Huw Jones in the midfield.

Piet van Zyl and Niel Marais are at No.9 and No.10 respectively.

In the pack, Renaldo Bothma, Jean-Luc du Preez and Albertus Smith make up our loose trio and in the second row, we have Reniel Hugo and Rudolph Snyman.

Our front row consists of Ruan Dreyer, Torsten van Jaarsveld and Pierre Schoeman.

Team of the Week: Cheetahs lead the way15 – Curwin Bosch (Sharks)

His kicking to goal might have been poor, but his game management from the back in wet conditions was good.

Bubbling under: Ulrich Beyers (Blue Bulls)

14 – Rayno Benjamin (Free State Cheetahs)

He made a number of runs through the Golden Lions' defence and scored a great try as well.

13 – Nico Lee (Free State Cheetahs)

The young centre was brilliant with ball in hand against the Golden Lions and created one of his team's five tries.

12 – Huw Jones (Western Province) 

He was definitely Western Province's most effective attacking weapon against the Pumas. He scored a try and had a hand in two others.

11 – Raymond Rhule (Free State Cheetahs)

He was given plenty of space in the match against the Golden Lions and he flourished. He also scored a try as well.

10 – Niel Marais (Free State Cheetahs)

He created a lot of opportunities for his backline against the Golden Lions. He also made a number of key tackles in the midfield.

9 – Piet van Zyl (Blue Bulls)

The scrumhalf put in another great all-round performance against Griquas. His distribution was excellent and he scored two tries. He also had his hand in two other tries as well.

8 – Renaldo Bothma (Pumas)

The big No.8 was outstanding in a losing cause against Western Province. He carried the ball with aggression and crossed the advantage line on a number of occasions.

7 – Jean-Luc du Preez (Sharks)

The loose forward gave a masterclass in wet conditions against the Eastern Province Kings. He got on the scoresheet with a try, carried the ball strongly and won a few turnovers as well.

His work rate was phenomenal against the Free State Cheetahs. He carried the ball on a number of occasions and racked up the running metres once again.

5 – Reniel Hugo (Free State Cheetahs)

He was excellent in the line-outs and he gave his team some much-needed grunt against the Golden Lions in open play.

He was quite effective with ball in hand against Griquas and he was also solid on defence.

3 – Ruan Dreyer (Golden Lions)

He was part of a powerful front row that dominated the Free State Cheetahs at scrum time. He also did a lot of good things with ball in hand.

He tackled like a demon against the Golden Lions and he also led by example throughout the game.

He did not put a foot wrong against Griquas. He was powerful in the scrums and made a few great runs. He also made himself a nuisance at the breakdowns as well.
