The Wallabies dominated large parts of the first half against the Boks, but they could not convert their opportunities into points.

Despite the loss, some of their players did their reputations no harm.

Warren Fortune rates the Australian players!

Player ratings: Hoodoo continues15 Israel Folau:

He did not have the best of games. He got a yellow card for a stupid foul on Bryan Habana, but he did ask questions of the Springboks' defence on a few occasions.

5/10

14 Dane Haylett-Petty:

He was definitely the best player in the Australian team. He racked up the running metres with some fantastic carries and he did a brilliant job at the back, while Israel Folau was off the field.

8/10

13 Samu Kerevi:

He was a well-marked man while he was on the field and was not as effective as what Michael Cheika would have liked him to be.

5/10

12 Bernard Foley:

He was the creative spark in midfield. He often put his teammates into space and he also had a few good runs with ball in hand as well.

6/10

11 Reece Hodge:

The youngster ran hard at the Boks whenever he got the ball and he crossed the advantage line on a few occasions.

5/10

10 Quade Cooper:

He did a few good things on attack and gave the Boks' defence a few problems when he ran at them.

6/10

9 Will Genia:

He gave his backline plenty of clean ball, but his decision making did let him down on a few occasions.

6/10

8 Sean McMahon:

He did a lot of good work around the park before he left the field, including making a nuisance of himself at the breakdowns.

6/10

7 Michael Hooper:

The breakdown maestro was definitely the best player in the Wallaby pack. He carried the ball with aggression and he also beat a number of defenders.

7/10

6 Dean Mumm:

He did his part in a strong defensive effort with a number of tackles. However, he was largely anonymous with ball in hand.

5/10

The big bruiser carried the ball on a number of occasions, but he was not effective enough.

4/10

4 Rob Simmons:

He was poor in open play and also conceded a few turnovers. However, he did his bit in a strong defensive display.

4/10

3 Sekope Kepu:

He was solid in the scrums and had a few great runs with ball in hand in open play.

6/10

2 Stephen Moore (captain):

He had a high work rate around the park and he found his jumpers most of the time in the line-outs.

6/10

1 Scott Sio :

The big prop produced a great all-round performance. He gave Vincent Koch a few problems in the scrums and he scored a great try as well.

8/10

Replacements:

16 James Hanson:

Not used

17 James Slipper (On for S Sio, 56th min):

He struggled in the scrums when he came on and only made a few tackles during his time on the field.

3/10

18 Tom Robertson (On for S Kepu, 56th min):

Like James Slipper, he found life a bit tough in the scrums and he also did not do enough in open play

3/10

19 Kane Douglas (On for A Coleman, 46th min):

He looked out of sorts when he came on the field and he could not help his team in the physical exchanges.

3/10

20 Scott Fardy (On for S McMahon, 40th min):

He failed to match Sean McMahon's first half performance and he was hardly noticed during the second half.

3/10

21 Nick Phipps (On for W Genia, 76th min):

Not enough time to be rated.

22 Tevita Kuridrani (On for S Kerevi, 54th min):

He did absolutely nothing when he came onto the field.
