Player ratings: Pathetic

The one try they scored was more because the Wallabies took their collective feet of the pedal than any creativity on behalf of the Welsh.

In the end, the 8-32 (one try to five) loss tells a story of its own – given the Wallabies seldom got out of second gear.

Jan de Koning rates the Welsh players!

15 Leigh Halfpenny:

Not as accurate off the tee as we have come to expect, missed tackles, conceded turnovers and contributed little else.

4/10

14 Alex Cuthbert:

Was impressive with ball in hand, but the rest of his game was sadly lacking.

5/10

13 Scott Williams:

A late replacement after Jonathan Davies pulled out shortly before the game. Looked unprepared.

5/10

12 Jamie Roberts:

Beginning to look like his best years are behind him.

5/10

11 George North:

Apart from one decent run, did not bring much to the game – like most of his teammates.

5/10

10 Dan Biggar:

Cynical foul early in the first half and brought little to the game, other than being 'acceptable' on defence.

6/10

9 Rhys Webb:

Had a nightmare on defence, but his service was just about par and had a couple of half-beaks.

6/10

8 Ross Moriarty:

Worked hard – making some ground with ball in hand, plenty of tackles and good work at the breakdown.

6/10

7 Justin Tipuric:

Was Wales' most productive player – plenty of carries, getting over the advantage line on occasion and made bags of tackles.

7/10

6 Dan Lydiate:

Made loads of tackles, but the rest of his game left a lot to be desired.

6/10

5 Luke Charteris:

One of the few Welsh players who can keep his head high.

7/10

4 Bradley Davies:

Not a game he would like to remember – slow and ponderous.

5/10

3 Samson Lee:

Penalised at scrum time – although it was not always clear why – and also left some rather huge holes on defence.

3/10

2 Ken Owens:

Worked hard on defence, but disappeared at times.

5/10

1 Gethin Jenkins (captain):

A crucial turnover early in the match, but missed tackles and conceded turnovers.

5/10

Replacements:

16 Scott Baldwin (on for Owens, 59th min):

Carried the ball twice and made one tackle – the total sum of his contribution.

4/10

17 Nicky Smith (on for Jenkins, 59th min):

Made a massive difference in the scrums when he came on, while he also made a contribution on defence.

6/10

18 Tomas Francis (on for Lee, 59th min):

Solid in the scrums, but his workrate was poor.

5/10

19 Cory Hill (on for Davies, 64th min):

Made just two tackles – his only notable contributions.

5/10

20 James King (on for Lydiate, 70th min):

Not enough time to be rated.

21 Gareth Davies (on for Webb, 65th min):

Brought the buzz and fizz the Welsh backline lacked.

7/10

22 Sam Davies (on for Biggar, 65th min):

Was solid on defence and had a couple of decent runs.

6/10

23 Hallam Amos (on for North, 61st min):

Had a handful of really impressive runs, making plenty of metres.

6/10
