OPINION: Scotland put in a spirited performance against the Wallabies, but could not close out the game when they were in front.

The home side gave the Wallabies plenty of problems with some exciting running rugby and a stern defence. However, they lacked that ruthlessness to put away the Wallabies.

Warren Fortune rates the Scottish players!

15 Stuart Hogg:
He kept the Australian defence busy with some good runs and he racked up the running metres.
7/10

14 Sean Maitland:
He did not have many opportunities with ball in hand throughout the game, but he did go over the gain line on a few occasions.
6/10

13 Huw Jones:
It was a fantastic performance from the youngster, He scored two great tries and made more tackles than any other of his backline teammates.
9/10

12 Alex Dunbar:
He was not as influential as Huw Jones with the ball and he missed a couple of tackles as well.
5/10

11 Tim Visser:
He had a few chances with ball in hand, but he certainly made the most of it by breaking through the Australian defence on a few occasions.
7/10

10 Finn Russell:
It was a good performance from the pivot. He kept the Aussies guessing on a few occasions when he had the ball and helped organise his team's attack.
7/10

9 Greig Laidlaw:
His distribution was good and his kicking to polls was accurate as well.
7/10

8 Ryan Wilson:
Went off after five minutes
Not enough time to be rated.

7 Hamish Watson:
He carried the ball on a number of occasions without too much success and he put in some good hits on defence as well.
7/10

He is another who carried the ball a few times with some running metres. He could have done more.
6/10

Made more tackles than any other player on the field and scored a fantastic try as well. He also put some pressure on the Wallabies at line-out time.
8/10

4 Richie Gray:
Made the second most tackles in the game behind his brother and he did some good work at line-out time as well.
8/10

3 Zander Fagerson:
His work rate on defence was great for a prop and he was solid most of the time in the scrums.
6/10

He did well in the line-outs, but he could have done more in open play for his team
