Second row forward Justin Tipuric put in a sublime performance, as the home side outscored the Springboks by two tries to one – with Tipuric going over for the second and decisive score, four minutes from the final whistle.

15 Leigh Halfpenny

His accuracy off the tee kept Wales firmly in a commanding position in the opening half, but it was his calmness both on attack and defence that was invaluable for the home side.

The experienced winger made matters very difficult for the visitors, he made a few runs gaining valuable metres for Wales. His defensive tenacity ensured the home side stopped the Boks from gaining momentum.

13 Jonathan Davies

Solid with ball in hand, along with his fellow midfielder kept the Boks' defence busy all match. Gaining valuable and also getting busy at the breakdown, Davies got into ideal positions which was vital for the home side.

12 Scott Williams

Complementing his midfield partner very well, Williams ensured the Boks never gained any form of consistent momentum when the Boks came within Wales' half.

11 Liam Williams

A fairly quiet match by his standards, the speedster made some telling runs and the few times he was called on to defend, he made sure he got his man.

10 Dan Biggar

The pivot ran the correct line and he ran this line hard at the shaky Bok defence. Biggar's ability to free up the likes of North, Davies and both Williams' saw Wales run into space and converting this territory into a well deserved victory.

9 Gareth Davies

His tactical box kicks often took play deep into visitors territory, Davies' rapid service from the base gave the Wales backs quality ball. Keeping ball among the forwards when needed or giving the ball to the dangerous Wales backs was testament of his excellent decision making abilities.

8 Ross Moriarty

Solid display of talent, the back rower made his presence felt in broken play and kept the Bok defence busy all game.

7 Justin Tipuric

Played like a man possessed and on a mission, the loose forward made a nuisance of himself and ensured Jantjies didn't get quality ball out to the Bok backline. His running lines was a beauty to observe, which in the end saw him crash over the whitewash for the winning try.

6 Dan Lydiate

The loose forward put in a good display of brut strength, his tackling ability and workrate at the breakdown gave Wales good momentum.

5 Alun Wyn Jones

The seasoned second rower was as tough as they come, making sure his side got quality first phase ball. The 31-year-old ran hard and with so much confidence, he got busy on defence as well.

4 Luke Charteris

Charteris got all his basics right, took his line-out ball and got busy on defence. The lock made sure that the Wales backs got quality ball to run hard at the visitors.

3 Tomas Francis

Tough start to the game for the prop, but as the game matured, Francis got his man at the scrum set piece. Supported his fellow forwards very well on defence.

2 Ken Owens

He got the crucial try that took the match well away from the visitors after a brilliant display of sheer strength from the home side's pack of forwards.

1 Gethin Jenkins

Having played for his country a record 134 times, the experienced Wales hardman lead his team by example. His workrate at the coalface often kept the home side's platform a solid one.

16 Scott Baldwin (On for Ken Owens, 60th min)

Baldwin enter the match at a time when a solid platform was laid by his teammates. The replacement prop worked hard at the set piece and pulled his weight handsomely.

The loose forward came on and got involved almost immediately. His workrate and ability to put in big hits helped the home side to keep momentum on their side.

22 Sam Davies (On for Liam Williams, 59th min)

Liam Williams had an excellent game and with the introduction of Sam Davies the momentum shifted even more towards the home side. The 23-year-old Davies got busy on attack, keeping the visitors' defenders busy for the final quarter of the match.
