SCHOOLS PREVIEW: There are three colleges in Border which excel in rugby - Dale, Queen's and Selborne.

They are traditional boys schools, all founded in the 19th century, with lots of competition amongst each other - from up in the mountains of Queenstown, down the road to King William's town and on to East London on the Buffalo River and the sea.

Queen's, the oldest of the three schools but the last to start playing rugby, will come down from its mountains on the N6 to Selborne, the youngest of the three but playing rugby 48 years before Queen's. Both have proud traditions and are proud of their position in schoolboy rugby in South Africa.

This year Queen's have had Allan Dell make his debut for Scotland and Yaw Penxe chosen for South Africa's Under-20 team to play in the World Championship in Georgia.

Selborne have been the better performers so far this season. They are ranked 16th on the Top 20. They have won five of their eight matches, losing to three teams ranked above them - Monument, Helpmekaar and mighty Paarl Boys' High.

Queen's have won just three of their eight matches so far, though their only opponents ranked in the Top 20 are Kearsney. But they have one remarkable victory.

They were not given much of a chance against Dale but beat them, just as last year they were given no chance against Selborne but beat them. Both of those victories were up in Queenstown whereas this time they are down on Selborne's ground near the famous museum which houses the coelacanth.

One thing is for sure and that is that both teams will be going flat out - with a joyous kind of intensity.
