SACS far too strong for Castleknock

Thu, 02 Aug 2007 13:40

SA College High School (SACS) on Wednesday played host to Castleknock College of Dublin, Ireland. SACS were far too strong for their overseas counterparts and ran out comfortable 74-3 winners. SACS produced a very good all-round performance and dominated all facets of play. Their scrums were particularly impressive and they laid the platform for their loose forwards and backs to run havoc. The support play and general inter-play between forwards and backs was a feature of the SACS performance, but it must be said that the tackling of Castleknock was not up to the required standard. SACS ran in twelve unanswered tries and it would be unfair to single out individuals in what was a great team effort. Castleknock would have been disappointed with their showing after coming into the game with high expectations and a very good track record in Ireland. They looked the part and came with a huge squad of players and coaches but their play was generally disappointing. Usually Irish teams are combative up front but Castleknock failed to deliver even in the primary facets and their game fell down from there. SACS were using the game as an opportunity to welcome backs their skipper Zack Beukman and influential flyhalf Tim Carr. Both players came through the game unscathed and this was a welcome fillip before SACS travel to Strand High on Saturday Scorers: For SACS: Tries: J-L Kuttel 3, B De Aruejo, M Theron, D Robertson, T Carr, D Holland, J Levin, R Trueman, R Mthi 2 Cons: C Moolman 7 By Graeme Wepener
