Pumas overpower Griquas

Thu, 01 Jul 2010 15:33

Action from the 2010 Craven Week in Welkom

The Pumas made it two from two in the 2010 Craven Week with a well-deserved 38-7 victory over Griquas on Thursday afternoon.

With both sides having recorded victories on Day Two in Welkom, this Day Four encounter was always going to be a crucial affair and it was the Men from Witbank who earned another 'W' behind their names.

The Pumas scored five tries to one - with just Mcebo Khumalo's effort coming in the first half (they led 11-0 at half-time), before they turned on the taps in the second half and scored 27 points.

Tighthead prop Berné Bergh scored Griquas' only try in the 50th minute, whilst the victors also had a man sin-binned - reserve front rower Xolani Mhlanga - after that try, but it did not stop them from adding even more points before full-time.

* The Pumas beat SWD on Tuesday and Griquas beat the Valke - both whom picked up wins in today's Day Four action.
