Interschools – William Clift

Thu, 31 Jul 2008 10:56

As a fourth generation Boishaaier William Clift has been looking forward to Saturday ever since he first heard the word: Interschools.

Born and bred in Paarl William has been a Boishaai since pre-primary. It goes without saying that he is excited for Saturday and he says that “vibe” in Paarl started building on Monday already.

Although Boishaai have lost four of their twelve games played this year William does not think that they have done badly. He was hoping they would do a bit better but they were hit by unfortunate injuries to key players early in the season. They lost their hooker and lock for the entire season and their first choice outside centre was also out injured for most of the first half of the season.

Boishaai have successfully overcome these challenges though and appear to be peaking at the right time. They have gone four games unbeaten, including wins over Boland Landbou and last week Wynberg Boy’s High (35-0), and appear to be hitting form at the right time. Having seen them play over the last few weeks their forwards looked imposing while their backs were slick in executing their set moves.

William says that although Gim have a better record and more Craven Week players Boishaai will be going into Saturday's game with their heads held high. They are not going to stand back and are also trying to treat Interschools, as much as possible, like just another game.

Williams says that in his opinion the team that can better hold their concentration for the duration of the game will probably win on the day.

William will be heading off to Bloemfontein next year to study quantity surveying at Free State University. He is going there first and foremost to study but will obviously play some rugby. If he can arrive there as a winning captain from Interschools; he will no doubt be drafted straight into the first team.
