Schools rugby really is closing down but not with a whimper. There have been many big matches - competition matches north of the Orange and some top clashes elsewhere.
The Framesby-Die Brandwag match was big one in the Eastern Cape as was the ancient derby between Dale and Queen's who first played each other in 1891.
In Bloemfontein, not part of a competition but of a great rivalry nonetheless Grey College hammered Paul Roos while in the Western Cape Bishops and SACS had great wins in their Southern Suburbs Derbies, Strand won the Battle of the Kom, DF Malan the Bellville Interschools, Boland Landbou the Interschools with Oakdale and Hugenote of Wellington just edged out Swartland of Malmesbury. President won a Goodwood derby, Bredasdorp beat Montagu and Piketberg beat Porterville. They were all great clashes.
