Louis Botha champions of the Irawa-league

Louis Botha was crowned champions of the Irawa-league of the Kovsie Championship when they defeated Hennenman 20-10 in the final at Shimlapark in Bloemfontein. The team from Bloemfontein had to work hard to beat the visitors from the Northern Free State in a tightly contested match.
Louis Botha managed to lead 13-7 at the break after two tries by their eightman Brian Roodt. The winning team's only points in the second half came in the last movement of the match when Makgema Setlaba scored. His captain and flanker, Moekoa Bolofo, converted the try. Hennenman's flyhalf, Duan Pretorius, failed with two penalties in the second half.
Pretorius scored 229 points this season for his team. The Northern Free Staters' captain, Arno Visagie, led his team from the front in the match. He also scored his team's only try in the final. Gerhard Marais (referee) described the match as the best school's match he had seen the season. Both teams played their hearts out.
For the victorious side Roodt and Tammy Mcinga (scrumhalf) played extremely well. Mcinga was named man of the match for his performance. Louis Botha fielded nine Coca Cola Cravenweek players in the match. Mcinga and Bolofo represented the Free State at last year's tournament in Stellenbosch. While seven players from Louis Botha was in action at this year's edition in Pretoria.
