SA Academy team for Craven Week
Fri, 03 Jul 2009 12:44
After the three playing days of the Academy tournament was played in Pretoria, the South African Academy team was chosen to take part in the Craven Week.
In the recent past, the SA Academy team has played the SA Schools team and four times in six matches the Academy side - chosen from players not wanted for Craven Week - beat the SA Schools side, chosen from the top players at Craven Week.
In 2008, the Academy side won by a whopping 41-19.
To avoid this annual embarrassment, the SA Academy team will not play the SA Schools team this year but will take part in the Craven Week along with the team chosen from the Special Schools Craven Week.
The unbeaten teams at the Academy Week were the Blue Bulls and the Golden Lions. They each have three players in the side while Western Province have five, Eastern Province four.
The captain of the team is Kobus Porter of Noordheuwel. The schools with the biggest representation are Grey College, Waterkloof and Paul Roos, each with three.
