The manne: Rugby365\'s most famous bloggers
Nico du Plessis, an ardent Grey man living in Chicago, writes about a different side of the Stellenbosch clash between Paul Roos and Grey College recently. He writes about our bloggers who are on the way to becoming a club of sorts, a good spin-off from our schools sites - mostly a good spin-off anyway though some get nasty.
I was very fortunate to travel to SA for only one week to watch Grey vs Glenwood and then the Classic Clash between Grey vs Paul Roos at the Markötter Field. It was a memorable experience specifically when all of the most famous bloggers on rugby365 decided to meet each other in person and have a cold one before the game. Many of these bloggers (who are not Grey or Paul Roos Old Boys) travelled all the way from the West Coast while several of us met at the Classic Clash for the first time.
It is amazing what you have created this year through the 365 forum and blog. This (the blog) was a true catalyst for many of us to meet in person and to discuss and share our one common passion, namely schools rugby! The power of Social Media and how this has brought like-minded fans together was really evident when all of these bloggers met for the first time. Some of the most famous bloggers were there, including Mordaunt, Ruan, GreyOom, Galpil (NicoWeskus), BoishaaiPa,PaulRoosPa and Gatiep aka Hercules. There were others.
It would be great if you can do an article on the success of this year's blog to acknowledge all the loyal readers and bloggers! No doubt that your most loyal bloggers are those mentioned above and on the picture.
It is actually amazing to find out from several stakeholders that I met in South Africa how many people read these articles and user comments including schools headmasters, coaches, SA Rugby, etc. Some of the bloggers are now household names in SA Schools Rugby such as BoishaaiPa, PaulRoosPa, GreyOom, etc. Even the rector of Paul Roos was referring to these nicknames the other day!
Trust all is well with you and thank you once again for all the information, articles and statistics that you continue to cover on Schools Rugby. It really provides us with many hours of entertainment!
Nico du Plessis
