SACS eventually overcome Strand

Thu, 24 Apr 2008 12:11

The inclement weather of the early morning may have cleared by the time the 1st XVs of the South African College High School (SACS) and Strand High ran out on Saturday morning but SACS made heavy weather of putting away their feisty opponents, winning eventually 22-5.

To their credit SACS created numerous opportunities but their finishing was poor. When the ball did stick SACS put together some wonderful phases of play but too often their handling let them down. Strand may not be the force they have been over the last couple of seasons but they are well coached and you still have to play well to beat them. It took SACS until midway through the second half to finally secure the win.

The three tries scored by SACS were all high quality efforts but they’ll be looking to brush up on their execution as they embark on their three-match tour of Queens College on Saturday.

SACS scorers:

Tries: Matthieu Theron, Nicholas Pearson, Jean-Luc Kuttel
Cons: Chad Moolman 2
Pen: Chad Moolman
