FNB Top 20 - 2 May

Tue, 03 May 2005 17:13

Outeniqua up

Many schools did not play over the long weekend. Of those who did play there were some interesting results.

Monnas came roaring back. Waterkloof, with five of their side in Japan, just lost to HTS Middelburg and Affies and Nelspruit were so close.

Daniël Pienaar beat Otto du Plessis, Grey PE were not all that impressive against Framesby.

Queen's lost their unbeaten record on their trip to Durban. Kearsney beat them. They in turn beat Westville who had beaten Kearsney - just to make results look silly.

The number of unbeaten sides is shrinking!

Schools which did not play are Paul Roos, Grey Bloem, Paarl Gim, Rustenburg, Boland Landbou, Jim Fouché, Dale, Diamantveld and Glenwood.

That is a lot to make meaningful switches to the FNB Top 20, but one would want to reward winners.

Maritzburg College had a good win over Voortrekker, and are clearly on track with a good side. It's just hard to nudge them up at present but soon there will be serious action. Part of it will be the Michelin Series final for Under-18 teams when Affies and HTS Middelburg meet - Wit Bulle against Rooi Bulle. The match will be played at the University of Pretoria.
