FNB Top 20 - 6 June

Tue, 06 Jun 2006 18:20

Upsets, but ...

There were really tough decisions to be made this week in the FNB Top 20. After all the top two sides lost and the third side did not play.

Of the top three, Paul Roos have lost one, Outeniqua have lost one and Grey have lost lone and drawn one. A toe in touch kept Paul Roos away from victory and just one try was meant defeat for a depleted Outeniqua side.

That made it hard. Should we promote No.3 for not playing - not as a school anyway?

Those who laid their superiors low deserve to be rewarded - Bishops, Paarl Gim and Maritzburg College. But do we do so at the expense of those who won, even if they played less demanding opponents.

In the end we have a sport of compromise which rewards success and rewards the teams playing tough opponents.

Nelspruit have gained a toehold on the ladder after their big win over Ermelo.
