Berquist back in the Bay

Thu, 09 Oct 2008 09:16

Hawke's Bay received a timely boost with the news that Matt Berquist has been cleared to start at flyhalf in their Air New Zealand Cup quarterfinal showdown with Waikato in Napier on Sunday.

Berquist, the team's first choice at No.10, makes his return after spending a month on the sidelines with a fractured finger. He replaces Aayden Clarke, who drops to the reserves bench at the expense of Mark Jackman, in the only change to the starting XV.

In another big boost for Hawke's Bay, tighthead prop Anthony Perenise, who was briefly recalled to Wellington to cover for injuries to Neemia Tialata and John Schwalger, was heading back to Napier. He is on loan from the Lions to Hawke's Bay.

Hawke's Bay: 15 Israel Dagg, 14 Jason Kupa, 13 Jason Shoemark, 12 Sam Giddens, 11 Zac Guildford, 10 Matt Berquist, 9 Danny Lee (captain), 8 George Naoupu, 7 Karl Lowe, 6 Michael Johnson, 5 Bryn Evans, 4 Johan Snyman, 3 Anthony Perenise, 2 Hikawera Elliott, 1 Faka'anaua Taumalolo.
