Burger blow for Boks

Sat, 01 Dec 2007 10:38

Star flank Schalk Burger has pulled out of South Africa's year-ending 'international' against the Barbarians at Twickenham on Saturday. Burger, who broke his nose in the 34-12 win over Wales in Cardiff last week, was withdrawn on Saturday morning. Bok team manager Zola Yeye confirmed that Barend Pieterse will start on the flank and Hilton Lobberts moves onto the bench. "Schalk [Burger] woke up this [Saturday] morning with a badly swollen nose and his eye was still puffy," Yeye told this website - confirming it was a result of a knock he took at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. "When he gets back home next week he will go see if he requires minor surgery to rectify the problem on the bridge of his nose." The match against the Baa-baas is Jake White's last act as Springbok coach.
