B&I TOUR NEWS: Ireland's Rory Best will become the fifth captain in six games for the British and Irish Lions on their New Zealand tour when he leads the side against the Chiefs in Hamilton on Tuesday.

Tour captain Sam Warburton, who has only led the side once, was not included in the side named Sunday, indicating he will be in the matchday 23 to play against the All Blacks in the first Test on Saturday.

In-form flyhalf Owen Farrell has also missed selection amid suggestions the injured playmaker may be fit again for the Test in Auckland. Coach Warren Gatland said Farrell was only kept out of Saturday's clash with the Maori All Blacks as a "precautionary" measure after suffering a thigh strain in training.

"At a pinch he probably could have played. For us it was important that we didn't take the risk and put him out there," Gatland said.

Gatland said the Lions would be looking to build on the momentum gained from their 32-10 with over the Maori All Blacks as he finalises his Test line-up.

"We are five games into the Tour and there is still a lot to play for. Those involved on Tuesday will be playing not only for themselves in terms of further selection but also for the whole squad.

"We are here to win a Test series and we have brought cover for the replacements bench so we can limit the number of players who need to double-up, which is tough to do at this level of rugby," he added.

Dan Biggar will start at flyhalf against the Chiefs with Scotland's Finn Russell, one of six reinforcements rushed in over the weekend, on the bench.

The other five new call-ups, Scotland's Allan Dell along with Gareth Davies, Kristian Dacey, Cory Hill and Tomas Francis from Wales, were all named among the replacements and can expect to get game time.

British and Irish Lions: 15 Liam Williams, 14 Jack Nowell, 13 Jared Payne, 12 Robbie Henshaw, 11 Elliot Daly, 10 Dan Biggar, 9 Greig Laidlaw, 8 Christiaan Stander, 7 Justin Tipuric, 6 James Haskell, 5 Courtney Lawes, 4 Iain Henderson, 3 Dan Cole, 2 Rory Best (captain), 1 Joe Marler.
Replacements: 16 Kristian Dacey, 17 Allan Dell, 18 Tomas Francis, 19 Cory Hill, 20 Alun Wyn Jones, 21 Gareth Davies, 22 Finn Russell, 23 Tommy Seymour.
