Two more Cheetahs almost in the bag

Tue, 05 Aug 2008 12:44

The Free State Cheetahs are close to completing negotiations to keep two of their brightest stars playing for the Bloemfontein-based outfit until 2010 and beyond.

Coach Naka Drotské has revealed that he is on the brink of completing new deals to keep Springbok flanks Kabamba Floors and Hendro Scholtz at the Free State Cheetahs for the foreseeable future.

Once all the paperwork is completed, Floors will be set to play on for the union until 2011, while Scholtz has been contracted until 2010, according to OFM Sport.

"The contracting process is around 90 percent complete," said Drotské.

"There are still one or two positions that I would like to strengthen. I'm hoping to complete the contracting process for next year's Super 14 in the next two or three weeks."

Drotské also said that the experience that Floors and Scholtz possess, counted heavily in their favour when the offers were tabled.

"We learned from past experience that experience is crucial in the Super 14. That is why we brought a player like Springbok flyhalf Chris Rossouw to the Cheetahs," said Drotské.

The Cheetahs mentor has also added to that experience base recently when he re-signed versatile loose forward Nico Breedt for the Cheetahs.

Breedt spent the previous three seasons playing his rugby in Italy and France, most notably with French Top 14 outfit Toulon.
