Cavaliers in an injury pickle

Three Boland Cavaliers players will undergo fitness tests on Tuesday before coach Deon Davids announces his side to face Griquas in a Currie Cup match in Kimberley on Saturday.
Hard-working lock Frikkie Spies, hooker Clemen Lewis and right wing Danwel Demas all left the field with injuries against the Sharks last weekend.
Davids is concerned about their availability and will only announce his side on Wednesday.
If Spies fails to prove his fitness, Namibian international Nico Esterhuyse is tipped take his place, while former Blue Bull Harry vermaas could stand in for Lewis.
Demas was replaced by centre Deon Scholtz, who showed a great turn of speed. He could well be considered for the No.14 jersey if Demas fails his test.
Meanwhile, Davids has remained optimistic about his team's chances.
"We all know it is going to be very tough in Kimberley, but we have the players to take them on," the coach said.
"We showed against the Sharks - especially in the second half - that the gaps are there when we started to spread the ball wide.
"This is the way we should play. We have plenty of speed out there and I have full confidence in my pack of forwards to hold their own," Davids said.
