Fiery No.8 Dries van Schalkwyk will join the Boland Cavaliers' team practice on Wednesday as they prepare for their promotion/relegation matches against the Griffons.
Van Schalkwyk, who was one of Boland's stars this season, was out of action for several weeks because of minor shoulder surgery.
"Dries will join us on Wednesday. I'm glad to have such a valuable player available for the play-offs," coach Deon Davids said.
Van Schalkwyk impressed throughout the season with some outstanding matches. He is a strong runner, a good handler of the ball and excellent on cover defence.
In his absence David Hendricks also excelled in the No.8 jersey.
Asked whether it is going to be difficult to choose between Van Schalkwyk and Hendricks, Davids said: "Dries brings other qualities to the team. I just can not throw him away."
Van Schalkwyk will join the Blue Bulls at the end of the season.
Boland's first promotion/relegation match is at Wellington on October 18, followed by the return match on October 24 at Welkom.
