Griffons get that Cheetah look again

Mon, 13 Oct 2008 10:58

Three of the stars of the Free State Cheetahs Jacques-Louis Potgieter, Hennie Daniller and Jandré Blom are available to play for the Griffons in Friday's First Round Currie Cup Promotion/Relegation game against Boland in Wellington.

According to OFM Sport the Griffons need the consent of Cheetahs coach Naka Drotské to confirm their participation in Friday's game.

"We must ask Naka first if they can play or if he rather wants them to rest," said Harry Pienaar, coach of the Griffons.

"They all qualify to play for us."

Although Potgieter, Blom and Daniller all played in three or more games for the Griffons this season, Fabian Juries played in only one and is not available for selection.

Kennedy Tsimba and Albert Parsons may not play because of injury.

Potgieter, Blom and Daniller were all recently at the centre of a complaint by Western Province and the South Western Districts Eagles teams because they have been playing for both the Griffons and Cheetahs.

However, the South African Rugby Union ruled in favour of the Griffons/Cheetahs and the trio are once again available this week.
