Hougaard Bullish about his future

Wed, 25 Nov 2009 09:02

The Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd on Wednesday revealed that Francois Hougaard has signed a three year contract with the Bulls.

The 21-year-old joined the franchise at the end of 2007, after spending his first year after school at Western Province and ever since he has grown into one of South Africa's leading players.

Hougaard made his Super 14 debut as a 19-year-old for the Bulls in 2008 and owing to a series of immaculate performances in this year's Currie Cup the national selectors have included him in the Springboks' end of the year tour squad.

He played in both of the Boks' midweek matches and last Saturday made his Test debut for South Africa against Italy in Udine.

Hougaard is one of the Bulls' most versatile and hard working players and although he is first and foremost a scrumhalf, he has done exceptionally well when he was used at wing or outside centre and he is certainly one of the teams' brightest prospects for the future.
