Cheetahs unchanged for derby

Wed, 01 Sep 2010 13:32

Looking for a big wein: Cheetahs coach Naka Drotské

Free State Cheetahs coach Naka Drotské has named an unchanged team for Friday's Currie Cup derby match against Griquas.

The Cheetahs, fresh from their impressive win over Western Province at Newlands last week and handily placed in third spot on the standings, will be keen to avoid falling into the Kimberley trap.

Although Griquas have lost their last two games - against the Blue Bulls and Sharks - they are very much in the play-off race and a win over the Cheetahs will see them move back into the top four.

This year alone, Griquas have beaten the Sharks and the Lions in Kimberley, whilst also losing out in the last minute to the Bulls - in Pretoria.

Free State Cheetahs: 15 Hennie Daniller, 14 Philip Snyman, 13 Robert Ebersohn, 12 Meyer Bosman, 11 Jongi Nokwe, 10 Louis Strydom, 9 Tewis De Bruyn, 8 Ashley Johnson, 7 Philip Van Der Walt, 6 Hendro Scholtz, 5 Waltie Vermeulen, 4 Francois Uys, 3 Kobus Calldo, 2 Adriaan Strauss (captain), 1 Coenie Oosthuizen.
Replacements: 16 Skipper Badenhorst, 17 WP Nel, 18 Izak van der Westhuizen, 19 Kabamba Floors, 20 Tertius Carse, 21 Sias Ebersohn, 22 Riaan Smit.

Date: Friday, September 3
Venue: GWK Park, Kimberley
