Lions chasing perfection

The bonus-point win was enough to put the Johannesburg team at the top of the standings after four rounds in this year's Currie Cup, however, Ackermann said they are still making plenty of errors.

"I am thankful and happy for the win and I am proud of the players," said Ackermann

"However, we are still making a few ugly mistakes and were not always that accurate."

One area where the Lions did excel was in the forwards with the Pumas having no answer to their driving maul.

However, Ackermann was not pleased with his teams pace in Nelspruit and will also be looking for better patience on attack before they welcome the EP Kings to Ellis Park in Round Five.

"We just could not get the ball away quick enough and we never really built phases.

"We also did not kick out our penalties, but our discipline was good," he added.

The Lions will only really have one injury concern to deal with when they reconvene on Monday.

"I'm only concerned about Alwyn Hollenbach. It looked like he damaged his shoulder badly, but we will assess him on Monday," said Ackermann.
