Marais content but not happy

Coach Nollis Marais will have plenty to ponder in their build-up to their match against Western Province at Loftus on Friday, after his side was pushed all the way by a plucky Pumas outfit.

"It was a scrappy game but we will take the win anyway we can. I really don't think it was a good game but we are happy that we could secure the home semi-final.

"We have a few things to work on this week for WP," Marais said.

The match brought down the curtain on the Pumas' campaign and their coach MJ Mentz felt heart-broken that they fell agonizingly short of what would have been a famous victory.

"I am very proud of the guys, they played their hearts out. It was a good performance to end the season but to lose by a single point was heart breaking.

"We made quite a few errors that cost us at crucial times in the match and our goal-kicking cost us a few points, but all credit goes to the team and I am really proud of the effort they put in," Mentz stated.

The Pumas will now enjoy some time off before regrouping for the new season while the Bulls hit the training ground in preparation for their semi-final against Western Province at Loftus, in a classic North-South derby.
