Cavaliers too strong for Border

The Wellington side bagged a handful of tries to secure a 38-17 victory over Border, who made a number of handling errors that cost them dearly.

The opening minutes were slow and both teams took a while to get into their groove, but Nico Scheepers' penalty to open the scoring set both teams off with serious intentions.

Both teams managed a try in the first half hour and seemed almost even in terms of scoring until Ryan Nel bagged one just after the 30 minute mark. Border suffered a more than just a score deficit by the end of the first half, having to substitute two players for early injuries.

By the second half Boland had mentally taken control of the game and proceeded to score within the first five minutes while Nico Scheepers did well to ensure he got the maximum amount of points from all his set pieces.

Border made half a dozen substitutions with the hope of turning their situation around but the Boland defence held firm, their job made easier by the handling errors Border made.

The home team managed to pull one back before the final whistle but by that stage it was much too late. Boland took the game comfortably.
