Mentz: We were outplayed
The Sharks won the match 33-10, scoring five tries, while the Pumas only managed to cross the whitewash once throughout the 80 minutes.
"They are basically a full Super Rugby side so we knew it was going to be a challenge," said Mentz.
"We were outplayed and outmuscled at set pieces and struggled to secure possession, which obviously didn't allow us to execute our game plans.
"We had some good phases of play, but the Sharks kept us in our half with some very strong defence."
Mentz said that his side are definitely not down and out ahead of next week's away game against the Golden Lions.
"We started the Currie Cup qualifiers with a loss and bounced back, so with some hard work and fixing of a few areas we can do the same in this competition," Mentz added.
