Province have a plan for Rohan
REACTION: Western Province head coach John Dobson believes they are well equipped to deal with Golden Lions' powerhouse centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg on Friday.
Janse van Rensburg is back in the No.12 jersey for the Lions after starting at outside centre in the 17-31 defeat to the Blue Bulls last weekend.
The 21-year-old was in fantastic form for the Johannesburg team throughout Super Rugby with his strong carries causing all sorts of problems for opposing teams.
Last weekend, Province struggled to contain a similar strong ball carrier in the form of centre Andre Esterhuizen in the 34-27 win over the Sharks. However, Dobson said they will be out to avoid the same mistakes they made at Newlands when they run out at Ellis Park
"We faced a similar threat last week with Andre Esterhuizen," Dobson told reporters at Newlands.
"We looked after Andre, but he got four or five offloads away, which means he dominated those collisions.
"We knew about Andre, but we were not perfect in shutting him down. We worked quite hard in taking that space away.
Dobson added: "It is not so much about us ganging up on him [Rohan Janse van Rensburg]. It is more about the execution and the pressure we put onto him.
"A couple of times we went a bit low on Andre and we let him get those offloads away. He is a very similar player and similar threat this week."
Meanwhile, lock JD Schickerling will be out of action for a "couple of weeks" with a shoulder injury.
Schickerling first picked up the injury in the win over the Eastern Province Kings in Round Four and he was deemed not fit enough for the trip to Johannesburg.
"We are replacing him with Jan [de Klerk] and I think Jan is exceptional in the line-out and gets through just as much work," said Province captain Chris van Zyl.
"I am comfortable with either of them and I really think Jan has made an impact off the bench in the last two games, so I think he deserves a chance."
