Boland bank on experience for captaincy
NEWS: Boland stalwart Zandré Jordaan has been named the Boland Cavaliers captain for the 2017/18 rugby season.
Jordaan, originally from Vredenburg, made his debut for Boland in 2009 and has gone on to earn 94 caps for his side.
Boland head coach Randall Modiba stated that to selected Jordaan as captain was one of the easiest decisions.
"Zandre is a remarkable leader, on and off the field, from the start he bought into our structures and vision for the season.
"My long-standing relationship with Zandre and the knowledge I have of his leadership qualities made the choice easy.
"He understands the Boland culture and traditions," the mentor added.
Frederick Muller and Wayne Wilschut will assist Jordaan as the two vice-captains of the side.
Muller, a former Boland Cravenweek captain, will understand the magnitude of the job giving his experience of leading various other teams which include the UWC Varsity Shield team.
Wilschut used to captain Worcester Villagers and is also a product of Boland Rugby Union. Wilschut led the Villagers for four years and was also part of the Boland set-up for three years.
"Overall I feel the players are the perfect choice for the leadership positions. Their leadership qualities make it easy to gain respect from their teammates," Modiba said.
